10 Day Sun in the North

Today is the first day of your incredible North Island adventure. Check into your hotel in Auckland and spend the afternoon/night at leisure to experience the incredible city.

This morning you will begin your scenic drive up North. Travel through lush landscapes and historic Whangarei on a 3-4 hour journey. Arrive in picturesque Paihia, your gateway to the Bay of Islands, where pristine beaches and cultural treasures await your discovery.

Today you will embark on an epic coastal adventure. Drive along the shores of Ninety Mile Beach as the waves crash beside your custom-built coach. Feel the sand between your toes and the salt spray on your face. Your off-road journey continues up Te Paki Stream, stopping at the massive sand dunes where you can experience the thrills and spills of sand surfing. Clambering up and surfing down the dunes (if you dare!) is sure to get your heart pumping. Visit Cape Reinga and hear the stories of this significant site where, according to Māori legend, spirits depart on their journey home to Hawaiki. Enjoy spectacular panoramic views, visit the iconic lighthouse, and see the point where the Tasman Sea and the mighty Pacific Ocean come crashing together.

Indulge in a leisurely day in Paihia, the jewel of the Bay of Islands. Stroll along pristine beaches, savor fresh seafood at waterfront cafes, or visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds to immerse yourself in New Zealand’s history.

Today you will make the scenic drive back to Auckland where you will spend one night before embarking towards your next coastal destination – Pauanui.

Embark on a picturesque journey as you drive from bustling Auckland to the serene coastal paradise of Whangamata. Wind your way through lush landscapes and charming towns, enjoying the scenic route. Upon arrival, unwind on Whangamata Beach, explore the Coromandel Peninsula, and savour the relaxed coastal lifestyle.

Embark on an incredible full day nature and coastal tour today. Covering all the scenic highlights of the Coromandel Peninsula as well as visiting some special locations only known to locals, this Nature and Coast Tour is a delightful sample of the Coromandel Peninsula’s natural heritage and scenic beauty. Enjoy an easy walk-through nature on the forgotten paths of an old town. Visit an old historic gold cave, now home to sparkling glow worms. Enjoy the fascinating history of this area and learn about the flora and fauna within the magnificent forests of this region. Visit stunning coastal scenery with white sand beaches, huge beach caves, magnificent cliffs, old Maori Pa (village) sites and offshore islands. A visit to famous Hot Water beach is included (tide permitting). See your guide’s “treasures” from nature, including very rich gold specimens, crystals, petrified wood, and resin.

Enjoy a leisurely day in Whangamata, your final day in the Coromandel. Bask in the tranquility of this coastal gem with a peaceful morning beach stroll, then maybe followed by a round of golf on the scenic course. Enjoy water activities like kayaking or paddleboarding, or explore nearby trails. End your day with a seaside meal, savouring the relaxed atmosphere.
