This morning you will make your own way from your hotel to the Christchurch Railway Station where you will experience a frozen fairytale aboard one of the world’s greatest train journeys.
The TranzAlpine is one of the most popular experiences, but in winter it is barely recognisable, as a majestic metamorphosis transforms the landscape with snow-covered peaks, frozen lakes, icy rivers, frosty plains and freezing waterfalls. Winding along remote river banks, through steeply carved valleys, into mysterious tunnels, the TranzAlpine’s winter ascent into the Southern Alps is like a journey to a wintry Never Never Land.
